More than 200 volunteers – HP Romania employees, their children, as well as representatives of HP partners – have planted 5,000 acacia saplings on a 1 ha area in Videle, Teleorman, in partnership with MaiMultVerde Association.
The initiative is part of HP Forest’s global programme, launched in Romania in 2019, since when the company has been taking part in afforestation actions in southern Romania, to help restore degraded areas threatened by desertification.
„Since 2019, we have planted almost 30,000 seedlings in Romania together with different NGOs and environmental associations that take care of already afforested areas and make sure that forests will grow in all these places. It is already a tradition for HP Romania to take part in such actions to restore degraded land and I thank our colleagues and partners who every year respond to these actions. Sustainability is a mission in itself for HP, and in Romania we are involved in many projects. And we don’t limit ourselves to environmental initiatives, we have programmes aimed at digital equity and a culture of inclusion,” said Mugur Pantaia, Managing Director HP Inc. Romania.
Forests are essential in fighting climate change, but almost half of the world’s forests are at risk. HP’s approach to forest conservation goes beyond planting trees, by partnering with leading environmental organisations, designing products and services to reduce environmental impact and providing tools for more responsible printing.
HP aims to become a Forest Positive company by 2030, committing to conserving forests, including working with WWF to calculate and offset printer paper consumption.
